CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS
AARZU - Mid 30's, Kashmiri woman living in the US for a year. Speaks Kashmiri fluently; English and Urdu well. Strong. Capable. But the weight of her responsibilities is beginning to break her down.
RAZA - 11, Aarzu's son. Speaks Kashmiri fluently; English and Urdu well. Precautious. Intuitive and whip smart. He is unfortunately quite mature for his age, a result of living a life full of external and internal turmoil. A streak of stubbornness, just like his Mum.
FAISAL - Mid 40's, Aarzu's Husband. Speaks Kashmiri fluently; English and Urdu well. An intellectual. Looks young for his age, behaves older. Doesn't have a lot of expectations in life, except to be a human of integrity.
PHUPPO - 60’s, Kashmiri - American; speaks Kashmiri fluently; English and Urdu well. She is a very strong woman and has kept her grief at bay. She expects others to do the same, there's a whole life to live. She dresses very elegantly; very picky.
CHACHU - 60’s, Kashmiri - American; speaks Kashmiri, English and Urdu fluently. The epitome of an honourable Kashmiri man. Kind, hospitable and giving. Has connections to help his community and works in every aspect to better them. The host.
CLARK - 30’s, is very busy, and important. He has a certainty to him that unnerves people. He wants to constantly do better.
KELLY - 30’s, Is deeply insecure and takes it out on other people. She has experienced her own trauma but refuses to acknowledge others.
BABA - Late 20’s, Speaks Kashmiri fluently; English and Urdu well. He reminds you of the popular guy in high school who you hated because he was so nice that you couldn’t even hate him. You just want him to pick you to be friends with. He’s everything, but more than that he is loving.
MAUJI - Mid 20’s, Speaks Kashmiri fluently; English and Urdu well. She is elegant, a caretaker. She is living the life she always wanted until things shift drastically - now she wants to support her husband and protect her children. That she’s certain off.
YOUNG AARZU - 6, Kashmiri; Speaks Kashmiri fluently; English and Urdu well. She is inquisitive and believes in the joy of her life. She is very close to her Mother but her Baba is her best friend. Her favorite pastime is to listen to her Father's recitation of poetry.
YOUNG PHUPPO - Mid 20’s, Speaks Kashmiri fluently; English and Urdu well. She is a firecracker and makes no apologies for it. She has a soft heart though, which can be melted only by one or two people.
